How about a proper winter miles-in-the-legs day out? This is an Audax - a long, self-supported ride where speed doesn't matter, there's no support car, and no fixed group - everyone rides at their own pace, so you might tag along with someone at the start and end up solo by the first café, or vice versa. It's a lovely way to meet new people from the wider Audax crowd along the way, rather than sticking as a set club group. Flat-ish route down through Cheshire into Newport and back, so decent for clocking up distance without the climbing pain. Great one if you've never done a 200km before (like me!). You'll need a brevet card (or the eBrevet app) to get validated at the controls and to sign up - details on that at the link too. Bring lights, dress for winter.
