Notes
Ride like the wind - or at least with the wind. Take advantage of the gusts from the west to blow us east to Hull.
Idea is to ride to Hull and catch train back. Option to catch earlier train from Brough, roughly 10 miles shy of Hull.
Note earlier than usual start, 9am, in order to have more train options before peak.
Cafe options are Riverside Walkway Cafe just outside of Ferriby and/or London Way in Hull station. There's also a Wetherspoons across the road from the station.
Safety, pace, and ride notes
Route is the same as last week as far as Sherburn in Elmet, then turns south. It is very flat and, hopefully, very open to a blustery west wind.
There are 2 trains an hour from Hull to Leeds, one on Transpennine Express (just past hour), one on Northern (around a quarter past the hour). Both lines officially say only 2 bikes per train, but Northern is generally more relaxed and does not take bike reservations. Bike reservations are required on TPE. You can make the reservation when buying a ticket or afterwards up to 15 mins before train leaves.
Kit, preparation, and weather
Could be a bit of rain on the way out of Leeds.
Because getting on train with a bike can be unpredictable, be prepared to spend some time at the cafe in Hull station or at the pub across the road as people go back in pairs on trains. Depending on numbers it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to get everyone out.
